MCIU Holds Tony Elumelu Foundation Grant Application Workshop
The Tony Elumelu Foundation is aimed at identifying young Africans with innovative ideas who, with the proper training and opportunities can become successful entrepreneurs.
On March 28, 2022, Michael and Cecilia Ibru University organised a workshop to provide its students with the opportunity to become a part of the life-changing opportunity presented by the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
The TEFCONNECT workshop organised by the university management had in attendance 45 students and participants. Also in attendance was the Vice-Chancellor Prof (Mrs) Ibiyinka Fuwape. In her opening speech, Prof Fuwape thanked the facilitator for taking the time to visit MCIU to help train participants on how to successfully apply for the TEFConnect Grant.
She noted that it is important to impact the growing population of youths if we want Africa to become the continent we hope for. The Vice-Chancellor proceeded to encourage students and staff in attendance to take full advantage of the opportunity.
The facilitator, Mr Clifford Ettah, is himself a beneficiary of the TEFConnect Grant. He is also an ideas incubator, business developer and has mentored many over the years. In the course of the training, Mr Ettah shared various business ideas in the areas of Farming, Construction and ICT with participants who were struggling to crystalize their thoughts.
The TEFConnect online application is in three phases. Mr Ettah worked with participants to ensure they successfully scaled each hurdle, providing quick solutions to the issues raised.
The workshop included Q&A and practical sessions. Participants were challenged at the workshop to think creatively and look out for business ideas that provide solutions to the current challenges in Africa.
